Property Owner Conservation Easements
Personal property owners choose to protect their land from development by putting a conservation easement on the property. This allows them to still own and manage their land while protecting conservation values.
- Conservation easement stays with the land in perpetuity (basically forever)
- Property owners still own and manage the land. The property can be sold but the conservation easement rights and restrictions are still upheld by the land trust.
- Tax incentives for placing a conservation easement on property
- Protects air and water quality in our region
- Protects the cultural aspects of the region such as agricultural farmlands.
