About the Speaker & Winding Brook Farms
Winding Brook Farms, located in Monroe, NC, specializes in growing edible mushrooms while also educating the community on fungi, plants, and wildlife. Co-founded by Shannon Phillips and Teresa Higgins, the farm is built on a deep passion for nature and sustainability. Their mission is to nourish communities—both through education and their commitment to fighting hunger. Ten percent of their profits are donated to local and national feeding organizations.
At this event, Shannon Phillips will share insights into mushroom cultivation, the science of fungi, and how their farm came to be. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a foodie, or just curious about the hidden world of mushrooms, this is a talk you won’t want to miss!
